About First Step Dance
The mission of First Step Dance is to ensure that every person is able to dance comfortably with a partner in a social setting. First Step Dance offers a mixture of Dance Socials, Private Lessons, Special Workshops and Weekly Group Classes
About Kevin Laddison
Kevin Laddison, the owner of First Step Dance started dancing in 1997 at a Cajun music festival in Rhode Island. He danced socially for severl years before a job relocation took him to the San Francisco Bay area.
In June of 2001 he began The Metronome Ballroom’s (San Francisco) Teacher Training Program, completing it in April of 2002. In June of that year Kevin passed the DVIDA Junior Associate Degree in American Style Rhythm and Smooth Dance.
After relocating to Vermont and Starting First Step Dance in 2002, Kevin has taught regular monthly classes and hosted dances in Burlington, Montpelier and St. Albans. He has also taught specil programs in local schools, for local community groups, and at monthly USADance events.
Kevin has also produced a 14-episode cable acess series called “Care to Dance?”, and was the driving force behind the annual fundraising event “Camp TaKumTa Benefit Partner Dance Showcase.”
